This performance improvement study was conducted over a seven-week period between February and April 1999. The 20 clients received Healing Touch treatments in a community-based practice. Healing Touch Patient Survey for Pain and/or Anxiety Relief, Joan C. Stouffer, MEd, CHTP
Healing Touch has been offered by trained volunteers to patients at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio for the past ten years. The program has had more than fifty individual practitioners during this period. All treat patients individually or in pairs. During the year 2004 there were 37 practitioners who participated in a patient satisfaction survey. Both pain and anxiety levels were measured before and after a Healing Touch treatment. A total of 279 survey cards were accumulated. There was a significant difference in the reduction of both pain and anxiety levels as a result of a Healing Touch treatment.
